Welcome to the demo version of Bliss Saver™ 2.2. This exciting program displays interactive color animations on your screen. The full version functions as a screen saver, preventing burn-in of static images, as well as being a great graphic toy. This demonstration version gives you an idea of the kinds of features and paintings that the full version of Bliss Saver has.
About Bliss Saver
Bliss Saver is a screen saver that displays wonderful abstract animated paintings. A color synthesizer generates new colors constantly and the keyboard can be used to control it. Every alphabetic key is a color, with seemingly infinite shades in between. Even with a 256-color monitor, Bliss Saver makes it seem like you have millions of colors. Bliss Saver is easily installed to run in the background as a screen saver or you can just use it as a graphic toy.
Options include Delay Time, Activate and Don’t Activate Corners, and password protection to keep out unwanted users. Bliss Saver 2.1 can automatically switch to 256-color more for it special form of color animation. Over 130 paintings are included in the full version, and more paintings can be created with the companion product Bliss Paint.
Sound input and MIDI can be used to control the paintings, with colors pulsing and flowing to the beat and texture of the music. The animated paintings are stored in an extremely compact format - about 2-5 K each, and the total disk space needed is about 700K. Pictures may by saved as PICT files for slide shows and touch-up in other applications. Complete online documentation and Balloon Help included, as well as a complete printed manual and a full-color keyboard reference card.
Bliss Saver 2.1 supports plug-in scribbler modules that provide more animation capabilities, such as those in Imaja's Geometric Bliss or Waves of Bliss packages. Bliss Saver is System 6, System 7, Mac OS 8 and Power Macintosh compatible. There are both 68K and PPC native versions included on the master disk. While 256-color (8-bit) video is recommended, Bliss Saver also creates very interesting images on monochrome, grayscale, and 24-bit monitors. Bliss Saver is available now from Imaja for $49.95.
Installation
• Drag the Bliss Saver Demo floppy disk icon to your hard disk. Drag the floppy disk to the Trash to eject it. Open the new Imaja folder on your hard disk and double-click the Bliss Saver application.
• Once you have Bliss Saver running, choose the Help command from the Bliss menu to open the on-line manual. The demo manual contains information about most of the features of Bliss Saver.
Demo Version Limitations
• The Bliss Saver Demo has a fixed-size painting window. In the full version, the painting window can be zoomed to fill the screen with the Zoom Window menu command, or it can be resized by dragging the lower right corner of the window.
• The Bliss Saver Demo does not fully operate as a screen saver. It displays the paintings, and every few minutes an advertisement appears. When the full version saves the screen, all monitors connected to the Macintosh computer are painted black, and the current painting starts to display. There is no advertisement in the full version.
• The Bliss Saver Demo only reads the 5 demo paintings from the Bliss Paintings folder into the catalog window. These demo paintings are the only paintings that can be played by the Bliss Saver Demo. The full version of Bliss Saver comes with well over 100 paintings.
• The BlissSaver Demo Manual is a subset of the full on-line manual.
• The Bliss Saver Demo displays an advertisement for Bliss Saver every 2 minutes during screen saving mode. After a short period, the Bliss Saver Demo with time out and stop running. The full version runs as long as you like.
• The full version of Bliss Saver comes with a complete printed manual including a tutorial, menu and window reference, keyboard shortcuts, index.
• The full version of Bliss Saver comes with a full-color keyboard map reference card. This is very handy for learning and using the color synthesizer.
Addendum to the User Guide
• Bliss Saver has Balloon Help for System 7. Balloon Help is a useful way to learn many of the features of Bliss Saver if you are a first time user. To use it, simply choose Show Balloons in the Help menu at the right end of the menu bar. To shut off Balloon Help, choose Hide Balloons from the Help menu.
• The memory usage of Bliss Saver may be changed in the Get Info window for Bliss Saver in the Finder. You can experiment with different settings to determine what is most appropriate for your system. A low allocation can be around 300K, but this may limit a few of the painting effects. 800K is enough to let all painting effects work on a 13-inch color monitor. On a larger monitor you may need to allocate more memory to Bliss Saver.
• Microsoft Word 5.x Bug Fix
If you are have problems with a gray background effect in Microsoft Word while running Bliss Saver, it can be fixed using MS Word Fixer, provided on the Bliss Saver disk. The problem is a bug in Word’s color palette, which is missing the required black and white entries. Run MS Word Fixer, find and open your Word application, and the problem should be fixed.
